Born in 1958, Hotel Villa Elia is a small and delightful hotel, located in the quieter and greener area of Calizzano, ideal for families, for those who love outdoor sports or for those who simply want to relax in the garden that surrounds the Villa.
A rich and genuine cuisine, especially famous for mushroom and chestnut dishes, the typical fruits of our territory. We carefully select our suppliers to always guarantee the excellence of raw materials, favoring products locally grown.
Calizzano as early as 1800 was recognized as a popular tourist destination. Easily reachable by carriage, it had become a summer residence for several Genoese noble families.
In the 50s of the 1900s, after the second world war, Calizzano returned to be successful with the Italians and in particular with the Genoese families, who had rediscovered the desire and the economic capacity to take refuge during the torrid summer months in the cooler Ligurian hinterland, far from the city and the city bustle. Calizzano, surrounded by unspoiled nature and even with a modest skiing complex, was at the time known as “The Small Ligurian Swiss”. In this context Elia and Ubaldo Calcagno decided to transform what was then only a field of potatoes into a small pension, which they called “Villa Elia”.
Calizzano, at an altitude of 647 meters above sea level, is an oasis of peace surrounded by unspoiled nature, halfway between the Alps, the Apennines and the sea. Calizzano is a small village in the Ligurian hinterland, in Alta Valle Bormida, between Liguria and Piedmont.
In Calizzano lies the Melogno forest, a vast forest area, characterized by fascinating beech woods, among which you can find the “Barbottina” monumental beech forest, where you can live a holistic experience, surrounded by beeches more than 50 meters high.
